Things to do at Cleopatra Beach

Cleopatra Beach is Alanya's main sandy stretch, running for roughly 2km directly below the castle peninsula that anchors the town. It's the most central and busiest beach in Alanya, a short walk from the harbour and old town rather than a resort-strip location, so expect sunbeds packed close together in July and August and a livelier, less exclusive feel than the town's outlying beaches.

The fine, pale sand is popularly linked to Cleopatra, said to have had it shipped in for her own use — a well-worn local legend with no established historical evidence behind it, so treat it as folklore rather than fact. Sea temperature runs around 25-28°C in summer, cooler and better suited to sightseeing than swimming from around November to April.

The beach is free to use; sunbed and umbrella hire is paid, typically arranged through the beachside cafes.
