Things to do in Antalya

Antalya is the region's main gateway, built around Antalya Airport (AYT), and for most visitors it's a base for excursions rather than a week-long destination in itself: the old town of Kaleiçi and the harbour, the Düden and Kurşunlu waterfalls, and the city beaches of Lara and Konyaaltı fill roughly one to two days on their own.

A common mix-up worth clearing up early: Antalya is not Turkey's capital (that's Ankara, inland), the currency is the Turkish lira, and Turkey sits outside the Schengen Area, so most visitors need a passport rather than just a national ID card.

From here, ruins like Perge and Termessos, and the rest of the coast, are all within a few hours' drive.
