Good to know

  • Turkey uses Type C & F sockets — recognisable by the small central pin — at 230V / 50Hz.
  • European Type C plugs (two round pins) fit Turkish sockets just fine, but Type E/F "Schuko" plugs are too wide and won’t go in — a simple plug adapter is all you need, not a voltage converter. Travellers from the UK (Type G) and North America (Types A/B, 120V) will need an adapter too, and North American visitors should also check their devices are dual-voltage (100–240V).
  • Emergency services: dial 112 anywhere in Turkey. Heading into the Taurus mountains or out on a boat trip? Make sure your tour operator has given you a local contact number too.
  • Need to pack for it? See our packing list generator.
