Things to do at Alanya Castle

5km of walls linking towers, cisterns and a hilltop citadel. Walking the full site on sloped, uneven paths takes several hours, not a quick stop, and there's little shade in summer heat that regularly sits in the low-to-high 30s°C.

Entry is paid and separate from the Red Tower (Kızıl Kule) down at the harbour, a freestanding octagonal defence tower that is a distinct sight, not part of the summit castle. A taxi, minibus or the castle road up is far easier than the climb on foot, and views take in both of Alanya's bays and Cleopatra Beach below.
